Donor Conference Culture and Development in Oslo

April 2005 -

In March 2005 the second donor conference on Culture and Development was organized in Oslo, with policy makers from Norway, Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands, Denmark and Switzerland. The participants explained their working methods and exchanged experience. The website de Kracht van Cultuur, the Power of Culture, was also presented during the conference. In the closing statement, the participants agreed to promote culture as an independent sector, equating it with health care and education.

The conference was organized by Norad, the Norwegian directorate for development cooperation, in continuation of the conference held last year in Stockholm. The next conference will be held in 2006.
