"Internet has triggered a revolution in Arabic literature," said the Algerian poet Lamis Saidi during Winternachten 2008. The Internet has made it possible for writers to reach a global public without a publisher as intermediary. There are all kinds of literary web sites: from simple blogs in which unknown poets post their poetry to attractive web sites with videos of world-famous authors reading their work. A brief list of literary web sites from all over the world:


Poetry International Web
Poetry International's web site provides a list of links to literary magazines and interesting links per country. This site is updated with new poetry once a week.

Words Without Borders
Monthly on-line magazine with literature from all over the world translated into English and reviews.

PEN American Center
Web site of the international authors organisation PEN with audio and video reports on literary gatherings, interviews, stories, poetry and news.

On-line edition of Granta Magazine on contemporary authors and literature. With essays, poetry, prose, interviews and news.

Banipal. Magazine of Modern Arab Literature
Banipal is a magazine in English on Arabic literature. Its site offers news, a calendar of events, reviews and biographies.

Contemporary Turkish Literature
Site in English on contemporary Turkish literature.


The Hindu Literary Review 
Weekly on-line book magazine of this Indian newspaper with archives starting from 2001.

On-line quarterly on Asian literature and art.
