Theatre Day Productions stimulates young people in Gaza

Theatre Day Productions has been producing theatre in the Gaza strip for ten years. The staff includes Americans, Palestinians and Dutch, and works with many Palestinian volunteers to provide professional theatrical training for young people from the age of 18, presenting performance for children and youth.

Glass factory in Kenya: creative instinct and jobs

Since 2000, Dutch designer Arnout Visser has been working with local glass blowers in a glass factory in Kitengala, Kenya, on his Bushglass project. The consumer glasswork is exhibited and sold in Kenya and Europe.

Young artists in Moldavia

The AoRTa gallery is located in the Moldavian capital of Chisinau; it is the only centre for modern art in the country. The Dutch photographer Ron Sluik and art historian Irina Grabovan are the curators. New centre for performing arts in South Indian village

April 2006 -

A brand new building has arisen among the palm trees of Punjarasantankal, a village in southern India. It is the new centre for performing arts, the Kuttu Kalai Kudam, which was dedicated on 26 March 2006 amid considerable festivities. Here the tradition of Kattaikkuttu, musical theatre from Tamil Nadu, will be passed on.

Argentina’s Crear Vale la Pena organisation has worked since 1993 with young people from the poverty districts in Buenos Aires to improve their future by means of art and cultural projects. An exchange programme has been established with the German city of Kiel.

African dancers dancing in the streets of Montevideo

From 11 to 21 November 2005, Uruguay hosted the third international dance festival Montevideo Sitiada. This event includes both dance shows and discussions and workshops about cultural identity. The festival serves as a showcase for the talents of not just Latin-American dancers but also African and European ones too.
