The contest was organized by Reporters without Borders, an organization of journalists that strives for freedom of the press throughout the world. The objective was increased attention for web logs in countries with little freedom of the press. Other winners include the Iranian blogger Mojtaba Saminejad, who was sentenced to prison twice for his web log, and the colorful Moroccan blog Al Jinane.

Screenshots. is popular for its independent assertions on Malaysian politics and society. The web log also devotes much attention to media, internet activism and the woes of daily life.
