Bangladesh is not the country of floods, but the country of photographers, web designers and other creative talent. This is the vision that Drik, Sanskrit for 'vision', propagates with all its activities. Twelve years ago Drik began as a photo agency in Dacca, the capital of Bangladesh. Its speciality was images of the third world taken by third world photographers. In the interim, its activities have not been restricted to the library and darkroom. Drik is a pioneer in the area of multimedia and the Internet, and is involved in training young talent. The company is also a co-organiser of the Chobi Mela, a large Asian photography festival in Dacca. In September Drik celebrated its twelfth anniversary.
