Fondation Arabe pour l'Image
The Fondation Arabe pour l'Image was established in 1996
in Lebanon with the objective of collecting and displaying the photographic
heritage of the Middle East and North Africa. The collection currently
includes approximately 50,000 photos and roughly covers the period
from 1860 to 1970.
A large number of the collection’s highlights can be seen
on the web site. There are many surprising images that fly in the
face of stereotypes about the Arab world and bear witness to a very
lively photographic culture.
